Over 40 years ago, the Chinese Community Center started with a simple idea: help families keep their heritage strong while building their American dreams. What began as a Chinese School in 1979 has grown into a place where families from many different cultures find the support they need at every stage of life.
Bridging East and West means more than just teaching language – it means creating a space where families feel they belong. The Chinese Community Center welcomes everyone, no matter what country they come from, what language they speak, or what challenges they face. Their doors are open to all Houston families because they believe that when communities support each other, everyone grows stronger.
From babies taking their first steps to grandparents sharing wisdom, Chinese Community Center serves the whole family. The T.T. and W.F. Chao Senior Center provides daily programs where older adults enjoy meals, health services, tai-chi, and arts activities together. Children receive quality care from infancy through school age at their Child Development Center. Families can learn together through Chinese School language and culture classes, join fitness and dance programs, or get practical help with taxes, benefits, ESL classes, and homebuying education. Each program is designed to help families feel confident, connected, and proud of both their heritage and their place in Houston.
